A terrace above the water
Maria Madalena is a family pizzeria on Rruga Mitat Hoxha, a few steps above the Saranda waterfront. The terrace looks straight out over the Ionian, the oven burns oak all day, and the same people have been greeting guests here for years.
Everything starts with the dough. It is mixed in the morning, left to rise slowly, and stretched by hand only when your order arrives. Ninety seconds in the wood-fired oven gives the thin, blistered base our regulars come back for.
Beyond pizza we cook what the coast gives us: fresh fish and shellfish from the local boats, handmade pasta, grilled meats, and simple salads with Albanian olive oil. The wine list is short on purpose — a few honest Albanian and Italian bottles that suit the food.
We are open every day from 12:00 to midnight, the kitchen never closes in between, and children and big groups are always welcome. Walk in, or book a table and we will keep the best view for you.
